Here is a great article which puts in a nutshell the evolution that has happened to scrapbooking since the beginning of last year.

Estimates show that devotees spent around $3 billion last year on scrapbooking 'ingredients' such as paper, stamps, ribbons etc.

Hobbyists have turned to the computer to create digital scrapbooks, then either printing them out, or saving them to CD to send to family members and store for safekeeping.
